LAT WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD, INC.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT ACT

The Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act was signed into law on July 22, 2014 which replaced the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The new law represents a renewed commitment and is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and supportive services. Through continuous improvement the act aims to increase opportunities particularly for those facing barriers to employment. It is the important connection between education and career preparation.

 

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. prompts the changes of the Workforce Development to increase the engagement and collaboration with business in order to respond quickly to the needs of employers through connecting job seeking candidates with the skill and/or credentials in demand occupations.


The Board is a federally funded mandated program that receives State funds to service eligible individuals in Lafourche, Assumption and Terrebonne Parish.

 

 




LAT WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD INC.

 

The LAT funds are received under (3) three funding sources; Adult, Youth and Dislocated Worker.
Adult- anyone that is 18 years and older.
Youth- can be anyone from 14-21. However, youth between 18-21 can be eligible Adult or youth

Dislocated workers is defined as; long term unemployed, displace homemakers, unlikely to return to a previous industry or occupation, terminated or laid off.

LAT Board meetings are scheduled quarterly.

LAT Board members will receive board information prior to each meeting.

Committee meetings will be scheduled pending the type of service to be performed.
